Here are some tips for Taking Care of Your Cat:
Your cat requires daily protein so feed them with a balanced cat food including fish or poultry.
Give them sufficient water every day. Ensure the cleanliness of the water bowl.
You cat should rarely have milk.
Clean your cats litter box regularly
Get your cat spade or neutered, vaccinated and take your cat for routine vet check-ups
Make sure you have a a collar and id tag for your cat which has your name and mailing address (and email)
Provide your cat with some fun toys
A scratching post will keep the claws off your furniture
Keep your cat challenged every day to prevent boredom
Discipline your cat with a squirt bottle and “NO!”
Place mesh around your plants to prevent your cat from digging or chewing on them
If you cat chews on electrical cords coat the coard with some cayenne pepper, pepper sauce, or lemmon or place the cords in a protective cardboard tube or other cat proof non toxic tubing.
Keep your garbage tightly sealed or under the sink to prevent your cat from getting into the garbage
To stop your cat from biting react as another cat would by hissing or screaming and your cat will get the hint. If blood is drawn let the cat smell the blood (gross) and then yell or hiss.
Declawing your cat should always be a last resort as it is unnatural and viewed as many as inhumane
Put some catnip on the scratching post to encourage use
Introduce new pets or children slowly to your cat giving them time for a few days to become accustomed to the change
Cats are pregnant for 9 weeks and need to be kept safe and comfortable and slightly more food. Call a vet if the birthing process takes more than an hour or if the cat appears distressed.
To keep your cat in the bath while bathing provide something for the cat to digg its claws into in the bath such as an old screen or mesh.
Put a placemat under your cats bowl for a clean floor
A cat water fountain recycles water through a charcoal filter and avoids stale or hard water deposits.
Use a long toothed metal comb and stiff brush to groom long haired cats and a soft rubber brush and hand mitt for short haired cats
Regular grooming will prevent hairballs
Regularly clean the plaque off of your cats teeth with a gauze pad and baking soda with water.
Leave the radio on for your cat when you are gone
Keep your cats rabies vaccinations up to date
