Caring for a Ferret can be very difficult. They have many needs including constant attention, lighting and heating needs, specialized diets, and more. Ferrets are very susceptible to diseases and injury and can frequently get infections. In addition to that Ferrets can also produce a strong smell that many people find unpleasant.

With that said Ferrets can be a fun and loving pet. Here are some General Care tips:

1. Ferrets live for 8 years and sometimes up to 12 years so plan accordingly.

2. Make sure you have your Ferret spayed or neutered

3. Ferrets sleep for about 15-20 hours during the day and are active at dawn and dusk. They can modify there schedule to match the needs of the owner

4. Ferrets should be played with frequently

5. Frequent baths will not reduce the Ferret smell and often make it worse.

6. Ferrets will frequently take and hide any items

7. Provide your Ferret with a good size cage with many playthings including toys and ramps

8. Ferrets need to eat every 3-4 hours and need fresh clean water.

9. Ferrets diet should be carefully followed as they need a good combination of meats and other protein sources, fats, and specialized dietary Ferret mixes. Do not feed your Ferret cat food.
