Cat Arthritis

I have many patients who have arthritis. In cats this can be particularly difficult to deal with. Cats will frequently complain of arthritis and feline arthriits often increases in seriousness with more and more pain and swelling of the joints. Cat arthritis can be caused by injury or other disorders as well as obesity.

The main three types of cat arthritis are traumatic arthritis caused by injury usually from a fall, progressive polyarthritis where joints get worse as your cat ages, and osteoarthritis that also occurs with age but is the slow tearing and wearing down of joints.

Your cat will usually start limping with arthritis and have difficulty getting up as well as be depressed and innactive.

Medications can be subscribed to relieve joint pain and swelling and some supplements can help to heal joints. Keep your cat confortable and well rested and a heating pad will also help as well as weight loss.
