Here are some important tips for taking care of your Python:

1. Use a low wattage fluorescent light bulb for the cage and shield it from contact

2. Do not use heat rocks but do use heat lamps or heat panels at the top of the cage

3. Place some convenient branches for your Python to coil around

4. Purchase a commercial temperature control system to maintain cage temperature and prevent respiratory problems

5. Use ventilation materials such as plastic pegboards.

6. Use only rubber coated wire mesh to prevent injury from regular wire mesh

7. Obtain a 2nd cage so that one is available while the first is being cleaned.

8. Use thick glass for the door of the cage.

9. Newspaper makes a good liner to the cage.

10. Make sure to add plenty of fresh water

11. Your Python needs places to hide

12. A Python requires at least 3 times its length in terms of total cage area. For example for a 10 foot Python use a cage that is 6 foot by 6 foot at least.
