Deciding between a male or female pet can be a personal choice and greatly affected by your gender but there are definitely benefits and drawbacks to both. Having your pet properly spade or neutered can reduce the negative effects of a particular gender but there are still some large differences.

Female animals is usually smaller and more patient with children. Male animals can be more affectionate and offer more protection. Male animals are more territorial and can become aggressive and frequently mark their territory. Male dogs will often have more energy to play or work. Either is a great decision but just remember to spay or neuter your animal.
