I get many dogs in my office with cases of ringworm. Ringworm is a very common illness for dogs.

Here is some helpful information:

1. A healthy dog will beat ringworm himself in 4 months

2. Medical treatment is required in some cases

3. Do not touch any lesions and trim the hair around the lesion. Apply antifungal cream such as miconazole

4. Do not let the dog lick lesions (use a dog funnel collar if needed)

5. Signs of ringworm include patches of bald hair, scaly skin, and pus

6. Ringworms will glow with a black light and this test and others can easily detect them
